If you’re selling your home, how do you prepare for an open house? It’s important to prepare.
Some of the prep work is started the week before, the day before, and the day of. First, we’re going to invite the neighbors and share the benefits and features of your home with them, then see if they’re interested in buying the home or know someone who might be interested. Likewise, we might reach out to a rental tenant in the neighborhood who is interested in buying in the same community.
We also follow up with a postcard target mailing to tell them about the property and invite them to the open house. Then, we invite all the Realtors locally by blasting an email with info and photos of the home through the local MLS. Additionally, we reach out to my entire database of more than 1,000 past clients who may be interested, or may know somebody who would be interested. We’ll also post the home listing online for the local MLS, as well as websites for local open houses.

On the day of the open house, you want to turn all of the lights on to show off the home. We’ll also get some candles, potpourri, or baked cookies going to get the home smelling good and looking good. To look good, we’ll place some fresh flowers in the kitchen, and maybe on the nightstand. We want your whole home to be appealing, warm, and inviting. We’ll also want to enhance your home with some soft music, like lounge music.
We want to open the doors, put the signs out, and bring the buyers in.
