The holidays are just around the corner, so I’d like to answer a question that I’ve been getting from clients a lot: should I list my home now or wait until after the holidays?

Here are the top six reasons why the holidays are actually a great time to sell your home:

Holiday buyers are more serious. Anyone leaving their family during this time to come look at your home is more than likely ready to purchase it.
Buyers have fewer homes to choose from during the holidays. Less competition on the market means more interest in your listing and more money for you in the end.
Inventory is extremely low right now. Since supply is low today, that means that it will increase dramatically during January of next year. This spike in inventory also means that there will be less demand for your home, resulting in lower offers.
Houses show better during the holidays. Did you know that home buyers buy on emotion? Emotional buyers who are captivated by your home’s warm, inviting smell or holiday decorations are more likely to pay your asking price.
Holiday buyers are more motivated. Anyone who is out looking for homes during the holiday season probably has a need to move into a home quickly. Some people may even need to buy a home before the end of the year for tax purposes. Buyers that have a need to purchase quickly are more likely to pay more for your listing.
You won’t have to show your home during the holidays. If you have five or six days during which you’re absolutely sure you don’t want to show your home, we can work around your schedule and show your home at other times. We can even provide you with a delayed closing until after the holidays.
