What Is Staging and Why Do You Need It?

If you’d like to ensure your home does not linger on the market for a long period of time, or worse yet, miss the opportunity to sell this season, staging is for you.

A question I receive quite often is this: What is staging, and do I need it? Staging is where a skilled professional redesigns your home to make it more appealing to potential buyers. Some agents, like myself, have a lot of experience in staging homes; however, a professional home stager is an option as well. Staging your home may include removing clutter, rearranging (or removing) furniture, and updating outdated features. Some common updates include repainting walls, swapping out light fixtures, and anything else that brings a property into the 21st century.

A well-staged home is a great way to ensure your home is sold quickly and for top dollar.

Staging doesn’t always mean removing items—adding furniture to a vacant home gives it a more lived-in feel. New-home builders set a great example in their model homes, furnishing them with decor like rugs, shower curtains, kitchen appliances, and other day-to-day items that make visitors feel warm and welcome. If your home has been sitting on the market unsold, you should seriously consider staging. If you simply have a room that you don’t know what to do with, you should still consider staging. A well-staged home is a great way to ensure your home is sold quickly and for top dollar. I’d be happy to help you evaluate whether staging is a good fit for you. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or need some more information. I look forward to helping you.
